SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MEDIA PUBLISHER TAPS INTO
MOBILE TECHNOLOGY EXPLOSION
“Tap Banana” Peels Away from Competition
May 4, 2009, SAN CLEMENTE, CA, – MediaLab Inc., a Southern California-based media company, today announced it has created a mobile technology development company called Tap Banana, developer of fine applications for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
Tap Banana was born as the result of CEO and Founder Kirkwood’s passion of using latest technology trends to reach target demographics. The company’s focus is on developing applications with both superior design and intuitive user interface. Kirkwood is starting with a niche he knows best, which is travel related mobile applications.
”It was a natural progression from publishing both a print and online-based travel magazine to developing mobile applications”, says Kirkwood. “Media companies must either sink or swim in an era where technology is changing the way people access information.”
In May 2009, Tap Banana launches the Walkee™ iGuide to Disneyland® Park, the first in a series of GPS enabled, custom detailed walking map applications designed specifically for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The Walkee™ iGuide to Disneyland® Park allows Disneyland visitors to easily and amusingly navigate through the park. Walkees equip visitors with the ability to easily locate their starting point and map out nearest attractions, dining options, shops, stroller stands, ATMs, and restrooms. With just a few taps, visitors access historical information on attractions, preselect Favorites and check off “Done That” on attractions already visited. Another terrific feature is the ability to add a photo and a note to any Detail page for remembering special family moments and sending them off to friends and family. One of the highlighted features is the ability of park visitors to clock in wait times for some of the most popular attractions.
While there are other Disneyland® map related applications on iTunes, none of them have a user-interface that is as meticulously designed. “The experience is as magical as visiting the park,” says Kirkwood. Also, the ability to clock in wait times creates a sense of Walkee™ community amongst users.
“Tap Banana intends to become a mainstay in mobile applications” he says. “To us, it’s about taking the time to develop quality applications that are not only fun to use, but meet a need in the ever growing mobile technology marketplace. In addition, we have a series of really amazing new applications already in the development phase that will be coming to market in the not-too-distant future.”
